Truth

I wonder sometimes

what I saw was real unfeigned

Or rainfall in June

Tarekofcairo

The way ..

Words are

frigid stones

glacially telling as

.. they hurt

.. they block

.. they stone ..

I will cut a road

paved with these

silence ..

For you may one day

decide

to walk this way

gracefully…

back home..

Behind my mirror ..

Behind this mirror

in my room, is your hiding place

I know,

when I look to my eyes

I am really seeing you ..

I know the names of your tears

coz I shed them with you

and I know when you

are laughing and smiling

coz my lips are brimful too

Do you feel me

I am just few inches or nearer

Believe me I feel your warmth

in me when I yearn and

touch the coldness of this mirror

I know you hear me

when I talk to you .. all the time ..

and when I miss your voice

I put my ear and heed

and I can hear you .. talk and rhyme ..

And I can always write to you

When all I have to do

is fog the mirror

and draw a heart

that I can see you .. through ..

and I know .. down deep in my sole

– and my mirror knows it too-

that you love me

Coz I love you

a million times more ..

Wreckage afloat ..

Batteling

an inevitable fall

With a tenuous grip

Hanging to a

vanishing hope

Oh distant birds

coming or

departing away…

Is it a sunrise treat

or a sunset ailing and

doped

Mayday , mayday..

ashes in thin air …

A battered soul holding to

wreckage

officially … still

afloat ..

The River of light ..

Through the banks of ..

.. sombre night

Revelations , vision and love

Sail in the torrential river of light

The River of light

Painting with light

Cairo, the city of light and shade

Islamic Cairo

Quanta laden light gust

thousands light years ahead ..

From the creative core of the infinite sole

Waves beyond waves of lavish lust .

Glorious brush in the delicate grip

religiously tracing a carved frame

and gently weaving a Cairene grace

of light, highlight, and a sepian shade.

At noon .. all noons, a faintly glow

Grows to a silky throw ,

and warm vibrant strokes

at sunset …wears spicy tangy hues .

Cairo, the city of light and shade

Painted, permeated, bathed

From birth to dark to dawn, a fairy tale

of the  century old.. love affair…

The tale of Cadmium S. Red

Lolo and the Porcelain fish

A blob of paint

her tube says

Cadmium S. Red

Hanging to the bristles

of a round brush

helplessly wondering

where will it end

at the graveyard of dying hues

washed with turpentine

knife scrapped to the bin

or a second life begins

In the lips of a porcelain fish

or at a delicate petal

of a valentine  rose

Nubia

Aswan - Nubian village

Colourful outdoors

This an translation of an arabic poem I wrote celebrating the enchanting Nubia ..

Walls are painted sky

A tooth crowned golden desert

Red is everywhere .. hardship and blight

But hearts remain immortally

ancient white

The land is immutable

The time is eternal

Egypt’s sweetest spot

Is still .. Human
